In Esbjerg, there are plenty of opportunities for playing sports yourself as well as experiencing high-performance sports teams compete in the major leagues.
EfB (Esbjerg Football Club) traditionally plays in the best football league in Denmark, and their home court, Blue Water Arena, is one of the most modern football stadiums in Denmark. You can experience Esbjerg Energy, Esbjerg’s ice hockey team when they compete in the Metal Liga, the country’s best ice hockey league. Handball is a popular sport in Denmark, and Team Esbjerg’s females are in the top women’s league, while Ribe Esbjerg HH’s men are playing in the best men’s league. Esbjerg Motorsport is also at the top of the Danish speedway league.

In Esbjerg, it is easy to find a sport that suits you. There are more than 150 different sports clubs and associations open for membership. No matter what game you are passionate about, you can find active, like-minded sportsmen and -women. Sports for everyone
Only a few cities offer such varied sports facilities as Esbjerg. We have one of Denmark’s largest swimming stadiums, Svømmestadion Danmark, which includes a water park and a 50-metre-long and 25-metre-wide competition basin. A javelin’s throw away, you find the athletics arena and the football stadium – Blue Water Arena – where EfB (Esbjerg Football Club) plays their Danish Superliga home matches. The stadium arena, Blue Water Dokken, was renovated in 2012 and is beautifully located at the Esbjerg Idrætspark sports grounds. Here you will also find two ice skating rinks, home to both ice and figure dancers and ice hockey players. At the sports grounds, you will also find a curling rink, badminton and tennis courts, a cricket field, and a new and modern flex football training complex.
Streetmekka – Esbjerg’s new street sports paradise
Back in 2016, Esbjerg’s new asphalt paradise, GAME Streetmekka, opened, transforming the city’s old train depot into a mecca for street sports. Here, young people have access to a free space of their own between school and other leisure activities.
Beautiful and challenging golf courts
In Esbjerg and vicinity, there is a total of five golf courts, including the scenic Marbækbane golf court and Denmark’s oldest and only links court located on the island of Fanø, Fanø Golf Links. On EsbjergLive.dk you can find a list of all golf clubs in the area.
